This weekend I had the opportunity to help my cousin clean up his home after it was struck by a category 4 tornado. It measured almost a mile wide and had wind speeds up to 150 miles per hour. Thankfully he and his family are all safe, but the destruction it left in it's path is mind boggling.
I was so impressed with the level of cooperation between religions, community organizations and federal resources. When tragedy likes this strikes it reminds me of what makes this nation so great....our people.
I was overwhelmed by the love and support shown by everyone who came to help. The clean up and reconstruction efforts will undoubtedly take time, but this town will get through it as they exercise a firm compassion towards their fellow Americans.
I have included a photo slide show to this post. Select the large image of each photo to read a description.
Also, when your done reading this post go find your loved ones, gather them near you and remember what is truly important in life. Material things can be replaced, family cannot.

Crazy. Absolutely crazy.
We're glad that you could go and help, consider yourself hugged by your parents. We love you!
Living where we do, you are faced with gathering your family during frantic times and, for us, lucky enough to gather them around after. I'm glad that you were able to help your cousin through this undoubtedly difficult time and the times to come.
And I was worried about you when I heard about a tornado north of Denver. I'm so happy they are fine and taken care of, and that they have family near and many good friends to help them.
The pictures say it all.
Thanks for putting all those pictures up. The damage is unbelievable, but I am so glad they people are stepping up to help.
The pictures really give you a sense of everything they have lost. But I'm so glad that no one was hurt. Thanks for blogging about this.
